Matthew 7 February 7
for the Holy Spirit’s message 9702.07
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye. 3-5
The kingdom of God is in your own heart! When you know that, it’s just a question of what is in — my heart. I may not always have the cleanest hands or heart, but I do know where I have to go from here. I just have to do it.
[Prayer at the bottom of the page for “a spirit of community”.]
I’m sorry, did I say “may not always” in that entry from ‘97? I’m at home with the kids tossing a small football back and forth (it’s -17 and feels like -44 as I write this and sending them outside ... is a mite impractical) and we’re celebrating their awesome parent-teacher conferences from Tuesday night. Jeffrey’s in Honor Band this year and we’ll hear him perform next month! Sarah’s going to completely on both feet again at the end of this month since she had the pins taken out of her foot last Friday, and I’m warming up for a Bible study Sunday on the Old Testament books Esther and Job.
Recalling that the Persians — the inhabitants of the setting of the book of Esther — had the habit of reconsidering sober any decision they made drunk and vice versa can help a lot!
